Goin' South has been performing for more than 30 years. In it's previous formations, the band has covered just about every type of rock and roll. And, over the years, they always seem to return to what they have the most fun playing : Southern Rock!

The band's musical philosophy has always been to play the music as close to the original recordings as possible. Because of this philosophy, and Goin' South's penchant for southern-fried rock, finding musicians who can handle the material presents a challenge in itself. Power chords are fine for a lot of hard rock tunes, but Southern Rock usually consists of more difficult and intricate guitar playing. Playing this genre of music takes a high level of talent and commitment from the band members. Goin' South happily rises to the challenge!

The band has undergone some personnel changes throughout it's history, and considers it's current line-up the strongest yet. The band has always been influenced by the great southern rock bands of the 70's and 80's, including the likes of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, .38 Special, The Allman Brothers Band, Stevie Ray Vaughan, ZZ Top, and others.

Over the past few years, Goin' South has had the great pleasure to open for some national touring acts, such as .38 Special, Night Ranger, Head East, The Southern Rock Allstars, Foghat and the Ides of March.
